This was apparently a name used for unknown Jewish men. Shortly after entering the workhouse he became violent and had to be restrained and was then eventually transferred to a more secure unit of Colney Hatch Asylum. He remained there until his death in late All we really know about this man is that he was around 23 years old, had brown hair, brown eyes and a beard.

He was also registered as a barber. Cohen remains a good suspect because he was violent, the right age, was in the area at the time and his incarceration explains why the murders came to an end. He was described as a spoilt child and lived with his mother and aunt at 14 Albert Street, Kennington. It has been said that these ladies were of a nervous and rather excitable disposition. For work, Cutbush was employed as a clerk and traveller in the tea trade at the Minories, and subsequently as a canvasser for a directory.
On 5th March , three years after the Jack the Ripper murders started and over two weeks since the murder of Francis Coles, Cutbush was admitted to Lambeth Infirmary to be treated for delusions which had been thought to be caused by Syphilis. Cutbush eventually escaped and was at large for three days, taking with him a knife which he used to stab Florence Grace Johnson in the buttocks. He also attempted to do the same to Isabella Frazer Anderson in Kennington. He was eventually re-arrested on 9th March This time he was admitted to Broadmoor, a high-security mental institute.
Inside the asylum, he was described as having violent behaviour towards both the nurses and his own mother and repeated threats to the nurses about ripping them open with a knife. Cutbush is an interesting suspect because his description is similar to descriptions of Jack the Ripper as seen by several eyewitnesses.

Also, when Cutbush was admitted to Broadmoor in , the killings came to an end and the streets of Whitechapel were restored to peace, leaving Francis Coles as the last of the Whitechapel murder victims. Thomas Cutbush died on 5th July of chronic kidney disease. For over a hundred years, the mystery of Jack the Ripper has been investigated, written about, and discussed, but never like this. I could feel the cobblestones under my feet, hear the horses and carriages and smell the foul air of the London back alleyways. Experiencing the journal with Robert was intense as the mysteries unfold page by page.
The suspense kept me engrossed well into the late evening hours, just as Robert had… I can feel the goose bumps now.
The identity of Jack the Ripper has been explored, but never in such a deliciously nail biting manner. Although fiction, the possibilities of who Jack really was and where he came from as well as his unfortunate victims felt all too real thanks to the obvious hard work of the author to create this sensational tale.

And what connection did Robert's father have to this secret journal? The journal was an interesting tool, bringing the reader directly into Jack's world and the insanity inflicting him. The suspense kept me engrossed well into the late evening hours, just as Robert had I can feel the goose bumps now.
It gave me the creeps. A blood-covered shawl found at one of the murder scenes is believed to contain DNA from both butchered victim Catherine Eddowes and the world's most infamous serial killer. Researchers at Liverpool John Moores University conducted genetic tests on the sample long-thought to have belonged to the Ripper himself, who they now believe to be Pole Aaron Kosminski.
The bloody shawl is linked to the double murder of victims three and four , Elizabeth Stride and Eddowes, on the night of Sept.
It's long been thought that the Ripper - said to have killed anywhere between five and 18 women - had been interrupted in his work and was still on the hunt for more unfortunate victims. An hour later he butchered Eddowes tearing her apart and taking her kidney as a trophy - before sending the sickening 'From Hell' letter in which he claimed he had eaten it. All were murdered in the most brutal fashion imaginable around the Whitechapel area. Their bodies were utterly mutilated, many of them being disembowelled. Chapman's uterus was taken, Eddowes had her uterus and a kidney removed and her face mutilated, and Kelly's body was completely destroyed and her face hacked away.
Such was the fear at the time that the streets of London emptied after nightfall, leaving the once bustling Victorian capital deathly silent while the Ripper roamed the streets.
